NTFS file system became very popular nowadays. A lot of computers are equipped with preinstalled Windows OS and hard disk formatted with NTFS. After that you may use another program to shrink the underlying hard disk partition size. If you make the partition smaller then new size of your NTFS partition, you'll lose your data and won't be able to boot from this partition. Always keep in mind that there's a danger to lose your data using different programs to resize NTFS or other file system and to resize underlying partition. Another way is to choose professional-level partitioning software both to shrink the NTFS and to resize underlying hard drive partition. If you want to enlarge or expand your NTFS file system, you also have an alternative: Expand the underlying hard disk partition first. Be careful, you may lose your data if the new partition overlaps with an existing one. Then you have to use another program to expand a size of the NTFS. As with shrinking operation you may use only one professional partitioning program. It helps to perform easily and without data loss even most complicated NTFS resizing and hard disk partitioning operations.
